Oliver Spencer S/S12 - Harry Uzoka. The lovely model I was dressing.
First brief from uni; ‘Get engaged in London Fashion Week’ (Basically try and blag your way in). We were given this brief on the Thursday it started on the Friday. After the sheer panic I started to come up with a plan contacted Jacob Kimmie, saw his show which was beautiful! I’m in love with the prints he used and the figure hugging dresses. Although I did enjoy watching the shows I had this strange feeling of wanting to be backstage. I got my fix of the stress and excitement when I worked backstage at the Oliver Spencer show. It was good to see how a higher end fashion show works, and its pretty much the same as the other shows I have experienced including my college shows except you can tell some of the people had worked with each other before and knew exactly what they were doing. It had the familiar holdups such as lighting and where the models stopped, which was all worth it as the show looked perfect. My model was running late due to be held up at a previous show so for the run through I had to stand in and he was first in the running order! A very different experience to practicing in front of your friends, especially with the designer stood right in front of you! Such an enjoyable experience though and met such lovely people.
I now can’t wait for next season and hope to have some similar luck again!
